About Rose...

Rhoda, aka Rose Hall, was born in a small hospital in the suburb of Auchenflower and grew up in Indooroopilly, Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. Her childhood, though not eventful, revealed that she did have quite an imagination. She spent long periods of time on her swing, gazing off into the bush in the distance and using it as a back drop for all sorts of theatrical dramas to which she would add the songs which she knew best.

She worked as a typist and secretary for many years until tendonitis in her right wrist caused a rethink of career paths and Rhoda decided to study for her Grade 12 Matriculation and attend Queensland University where she studied Psychology and English Literature. During this time, she worked as a Clerk and Welfare Officer, in a large corporation.

As a practicing Anglican, Rhoda had been teaching Religious Education to children in two local schools, and was working out a lesson, when she came to realise that she had a talent for writing, In the meantime, she started making fruit cakes for a stall run by her local Church, These cakes were a hit and a friend who liked her writing skills, suggested that she write a story about fruit cakes. ‘You could call it Ministry Through Cakes’ her friend said. She took up the idea and has not stopped writing since.

It is Rose’s wish that, in this over-stressed world, she may bring some light relief and good humour to destress by and a little sadness to remind us that we are human and not machines. If she can do this, she has done her job well.
